Personal Profile : Jerry Spears

Jerry Spears founded Amvest Properties in 1987 and has directed the growth of the company from just a small property management firm to one of the largest in Washtenaw County. Jerry is a licensed Broker and Builder in the State of Michigan. He leads Amvest Properties in all aspects of its operations including property acquisition, property management, commercial brokerage and construction. In 1994, Jerry started acquiring and developing commercial and mixed-use properties on behalf of privately capitalized syndications. To date, Jerry is the managing partner for a real estate portfolio of over $100 million.

Property Management: The management aspect of Amvest Properties is responsible for the day to day management of approximately 530,000 SF of commercial property. Jerry oversees the leasing, accounting, and maintenance for the portfolio.

Construction / Development: With an in-house construction staff and general contractor, Jerry directs Amvest Properties in the coordination of design, development and construction of new projects and renovation within the portfolio. Jerry has managed the construction and complete rehabilitation of many very visible projects in Ann Arbor. These projects include the construction of 24 luxury lofts in two properties on Main Street, the complete rehabilitation of a 24,000 SF office building at 2301 Platt Road, and the construction of a 26,000 SF facility for the Ann Arbor Learning Community.

Brokerage: Jerry has been a licensed Broker in the State of Michigan since 1982. Over the course of his career, Jerry has been involved with over $250 million in real estate transactions. Jerry directs his staff of four licensed real estate salespeople in the representation of both tenants and landlords.
